In May 2024, the Frisco City Council unanimously approved the Water Efficiency Plan with 'Best Management Practices' (BMPs) for the long-term protection of our water supply.
Year-Round Outdoor Watering Schedules
- Spring (April 1 – May 31) – Spray/rotor irrigation with sprinklers or irrigation systems at each service address is limited to no more than one day per week which is the same day as the regular trash day. Additionally, spray/rotor irrigation is prohibited between the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. City of Frisco water users are encouraged to only use spray irrigations systems as needed.
- Summer (June 1 – August 31) – Spray/rotor irrigation with sprinklers is permitted no more than twice per week to which the second day is determined by the water user’s regular trash pick-up day. Twice a week watering is defined as delivering half the weekly total watering recommendation over two days. See table here
- Fall (September 1 – October 31) - Spray/rotor irrigation with sprinklers or irrigation systems at each service address is limited to no more than one day per week which is the same day as the regular trash day. Additionally, spray irrigation is prohibited between the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. City of Frisco water users are encouraged to only use spray irrigations systems as needed.
- Winter (November 1 to March 31) – No watering of turf grass areas by spray or rotor devices during winter months. Warm season turfgrasses are dormant during the winter and no supplemental water from irrigation is needed. If indicated by weather station data, drip irrigation, bubblers and micro irrigation are permitted for up to 2 hours daily. This also includes irrigation provided by hand-held hose with shutoff nozzle, use of dedicated irrigation drip zones, and/or soaker hose. Water runoff should not occur.
